Usha Vance Praises Melania Trump as Role Model
Second Lady Usha Vance hailed First Lady Melania Trump as a “role model” and a “trailblazer” Thursday. The praise came after Mrs. Trump’s widely noted “peace letter” to Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier this week.
“I admire her approach to many issues, but what stands out most is her care for children,” Vance told Fox News Digital.
Promoting Children’s Welfare
Vance spoke while visiting the Cherokee Classical Academy in Canton, Georgia. She was continuing her 2025 Summer Reading Challenge for kids.
“She truly cares about children’s welfare,” Vance said. “Every time she uses her voice to stress the importance of keeping kids safe and helping them grow happy and healthy, it makes a difference. That is why I see her as a role model.”
The Peace Letter to Putin
The letter, hand-delivered before the U.S.-Russia summit in Alaska, urged President Putin to protect children and future generations worldwide. It began:
“Every child shares the same quiet dreams in their heart, whether born in the countryside or in a city. They dream of love, opportunity, and safety from danger.”
Mrs. Trump continued:
“As parents, it is our duty to nurture the next generation’s hope. As leaders, our responsibility to children extends beyond a few. We must strive to create a world of dignity and peace, so that the future itself is perfectly guarded.”
She emphasized the universal innocence of children and called on Putin to act:
“In protecting these children, you serve not only Russia but humanity. Such a bold idea transcends human divisions, and you, Mr. Putin, are fit to implement this vision. It is time.”
A Trailblazer in Action
Vance praised the letter’s impact. “I don’t have a letter or plan of my own at this time, but she’s a trailblazer in this respect,” she said. “I really admire that.”
The Second Lady’s Summer Reading Challenge, which began in June, highlights her ongoing commitment to education and literacy for children across Georgia.
