I PAID FOR A STRANGER’S GROCERIES TWO YEARS AGO—AND TODAY, I GOT THIS IN THE MAIL

Two years ago, I found myself in line at the grocery store, noticing the woman ahead of me struggling to pay for her groceries. Her card kept declining, and it was clear she was feeling embarrassed and stressed. Without thinking much about it, I decided to pay for her groceries. She thanked me profusely, but we both just moved on with our lives.

Fast forward to today. I was going through the mail when I found an envelope addressed to me. Confused, I opened it, and inside was a thank-you note. It was from the woman I had helped two years ago. She explained that she had been going through a really tough time back then and that my act of kindness had meant the world to her. As a token of gratitude, she had sent me a check to reimburse me for the groceries.

What really struck me was that she had been doing well enough to pay it forward, and now, she wanted to thank me for the difference I’d made when she needed it most. It was an unexpected reminder of how even small, kind gestures can have a lasting impact, and that kindness truly does come back around when you least expect it.
