Chris Pratt Sparks Debate Over Trump Critics
Chris Pratt’s comments about people who oppose Donald Trump have stirred a heated debate online. The actor, known for his roles in Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World, has long tried to stay neutral politically. He did not endorse any candidate during last year’s presidential election.
Before the vote, he wrote in an op-ed: “If we become too paralyzed by defeat or too pompous in victory, allegiance to our ‘team’ can blind us to the fact that we are fellow countrymen. How do we become a nation of honorable winners and graceful losers?”
Family Ties Shape His Perspective
Pratt’s political stance has grown more nuanced due to family connections. His wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger, is related to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a controversial figure in politics. Kennedy Jr. has sparked criticism for his views on vaccines and his proposal regarding registering people with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Pratt explained his relationship with Kennedy Jr. during an appearance on Bill Maher’s Club Random podcast.
Pratt on Politics and Family
He described their interactions as casual and friendly. “I’ve spent a number of occasions hanging with him in a strictly family dinner kind of vibe,” Pratt said. “I really got along with him well and think he’s great. He’s funny, he’s wonderful. I love him.”
However, Pratt acknowledged the challenges of political alliances. “In politics, you inherit enemies,” he said. “When you jump on the bandwagon with the most divisive president ever, it makes sense that you’re going to be made to look terrible.”
He added that he avoids debating policy during family time. “I’m not going to pick his brain to find out exactly which of those things are true. I just assume that none of them? For the most part, I wish him well.”
Recognizing the Positives
Pratt also highlighted certain policies he supports, including efforts to remove toxic ingredients from children’s food. He emphasized reason over blind opposition:
“I’d h*te to be so mired in hatred for the president that any success from his administration is something I’d be having an allergic reaction to… Be reasonable here. There are certain things that would be a good thing to have. I want them all to be successful.”
