Before disembarking the plane, the pilot realizes that the last passenger is a carbon copy of himself – Story of the day

Before disembarking from the plane he had just landed, Captain Edward Blair noticed a solitary man who refused to leave. Looking more closely, he realized the man was identical to him.

“Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. This is Captain Edward Blair speaking. We have just landed at Chicago’s Midway International Airport. We hope you enjoyed your flight with us and look forward to seeing you on one of your future flights,” the captain announced from the cockpit after successfully landing the plane.

After parking the plane, the captain and his first officer followed protocol and waited for all the passengers to disembark before leaving the cockpit. When it was their turn to leave, he opened the cockpit door and saw the chief flight attendant talking to a man who was refusing to leave the plane.

“Is everything okay here?” Edward asked as he approached them.

The chief flight attendant nodded. “I’ll give them some time,” she smiled before walking toward the rear of the plane.

Edward didn’t understand why she wanted to leave him alone with the passenger until he realized what she meant. There was a man who looked exactly like him. Before he could say anything, the man spoke.

“Do you want to see Mom?” he asked.

“I can’t believe my eyes. Is that you, Adam? Has Mom come back? Is she alive and well?” Edward replied, many thoughts suddenly rushing through his mind.

Adam was Edward’s twin brother, whom he hadn’t seen in decades. Edward had left the orphanage when he was eight years old, and now they were both thirty-two.

“First, I asked you a question. Do you want to see Mom?” Adam asked again, impatiently.

Edward nodded, and Adam got off the plane. Edward followed him, and the two got into a taxi heading toward the city.

During the ride, Adam remained silent the entire time. Meanwhile, Edward couldn’t help but try to explain himself with tears in his eyes.

“When she left us at the orphanage, I really thought she’d never come back. I didn’t want to get my hopes up. I understood she couldn’t support us because Dad was gone, but I thought she left us because part of her wanted to leave us behind. I believed she would never return, Adam,” he explained.

“So instead, you accepted being adopted by a wealthy family. You chose them over ME. I begged you for days not to leave me in that place, but you chose a life of comfort over your own blood. She came back a year after you left and couldn’t forgive herself for losing you,” Adam replied.

“Until today, she blames herself for not having enough to support you. Don’t get me wrong: I hate you. In fact, I hate you as much as I hate our father. I stopped looking for you years ago, but when I heard your name on that plane, I remembered Mom and her wish to see you,” he added through clenched teeth.

After a couple of minutes, the taxi stopped. Adam got out and headed toward an old house that surprised Edward. He realized his brother and mother were living in poverty.

Although Adam had had a girlfriend for some time, he couldn’t ask her to marry him because he spent most of his time working and caring for his sick mother. He had always wanted to settle down and start a family but felt indebted to his mother and wanted to ensure she lived the rest of her life comfortably.

When they entered the house, Edward immediately saw his mother, Annie, in a wheelchair sitting in the living room. When she saw her two sons in the same room, she sobbed uncontrollably.

“Oh my God, it’s you, Edward. Adam, you and your brother are here. You’ve come back,” she sobbed, moving her wheelchair closer to her sons.

“She hasn’t come back, Mom. She just came to see you, but she’ll return to her mansion when the night’s over,” Adam said passively while pouring a glass of water to calm their mother.

Edward didn’t hesitate to walk over to his mother, hug her, and apologize. “I’m so sorry, Mom. I’m sorry I didn’t believe you when you said you would come back for us. I wish you could forgive me,” he cried out.

“I don’t blame you, son. I don’t blame you at all. I’m sorry I couldn’t give you and Adam a good life from the start. I wish I could have, but it was very hard for me to find work. I’m sorry, dear. I’m so glad you’re here,” his mother replied, stroking his hair as they hugged.

“Would you like to stay tonight? We have so much to catch up on. I would love for you to spend more time with us,” she asked.

“I’m sorry, Mom, but I have to go back home tonight. I’ve got a job in France, so my adoptive parents and I are moving there. The return flight to Chicago was my last one here. I think it was fate that Adam was on that flight, so I could see you,” he explained.

Upon hearing that her son was going to Europe, Annie’s heart broke. “You’re leaving?” she said weakly. “I wish we had met sooner… It makes me sad that our time together was so short.”

“I’m sorry, Mom. I’ll visit as often as I can. I’m sure I’ll have flights to the United States,” Edward said, apologizing once more.

“Stop giving her false hope. She doesn’t deserve to have her heart broken at her age. Get out of here!” Adam replied, realizing that his brother just wanted to see their mother but not establish a relationship with her.

A couple of days after their meeting, Adam saw a moving service arriving at the house across the street, and some men began loading furniture and appliances inside.

“Mom, it looks like someone bought the house right across from ours. Soon we’ll have new neighbors,” he said.

Annie was delighted because she had always wanted to have neighbors. She liked baking and wanted to share her creations with others.

However, they were surprised when the man who followed shortly after, driving a luxury vehicle, turned out to be Edward. Adam and Annie opened the front door to face him.

“What are you doing here?” Adam asked his brother.

“I talked with my wife about what happened the other day, and we both realized that our home wasn’t in France but here. I declined the job offer from the French airline company and told my adoptive parents I wanted to move to Chicago. They understood and promised to stay in touch while they enjoy their retirement in Europe,” Edward explained.
Here’s the English translation of the text you provided:

“I’m sorry I never had the chance to look for you, Mom. I know I’ve made many mistakes in the past, but I hope you give me the opportunity to prove that I’m not a bad person and that I truly want to spend time with you. I also want to reconnect with you, Adam. We are brothers. I love you both and will show you how much, if you let me,” he added.

Annie couldn’t believe it and burst into tears. Edward introduced his wife Emma and their little daughter Alex to Annie and Adam, which warmed their hearts. While Annie caught up with Alex and Emma, Adam and Edward had a good conversation.

“I know you don’t trust me at all, Adam, but please, give me this chance to prove that I have good intentions for you and Mom,” he pleaded.

“I’m willing to put my past problems behind for Mom’s sake. She seems happy, and that’s the only thing that matters to me,” Adam admitted.

The brothers caught up, and Edward learned that Adam had a longtime girlfriend he wanted to marry. Edward volunteered to take care of their mother in the house next door while Adam worked on his personal relationship.

Edward had Adam’s house repaired, and the renovations made it look like new. Adam began to focus on his personal life while Edward and his family took care of Annie next door. The family gathered every night to enjoy a good meal and conversation.

What can we learn from this story?
• People who are meant to be in your life will always find their way back to you. Adam didn’t know Edward was on his return flight to Chicago that day. Their chance meeting brought Edward back to the company of his mother and brother, whom he hadn’t seen in years.
• It’s never too late to start over. Adam was angry with his brother Edward for abandoning him, but they were able to put aside their differences for the sake of their mother.
They ended up rebuilding their relationship, which led them to become a stronger and happier family.
