Melania Trump Delays White House Tradition Due to Anti-Musk Protests

White House Garden Tours Delayed Amid Protests

Spring garden tours at the White House were postponed by a day due to nearby protests. The decision came from Melania Trump’s office, citing safety concerns. The former First Lady later attended an event at the State Department.

Nationwide protests under the banner “Hands Off!” were held in opposition to former President Donald Trump and DOGE Director Elon Musk. The largest demonstration took place in Washington, D.C., drawing thousands of participants.

The protests have stirred political tension, especially around remarks made by several Democratic lawmakers. Some have faced criticism for comments seen as harsh or xenophobic, particularly targeting the personal backgrounds of Melania Trump and Elon Musk.

Melania, originally from Slovenia, has long faced scrutiny over her immigration history. Critics renewed those attacks during the protests, drawing backlash for perceived insensitivity and double standards.

Elon Musk, born in South Africa, was also targeted. Some lawmakers accused him of holding undemocratic views based on his birthplace, despite Musk’s repeated public denouncements of apartheid and authoritarianism.

Many have called the attacks inappropriate and irrelevant, arguing that focusing on heritage distracts from valid political discourse. Commentators from both parties urged more respectful dialogue.

As tensions rise, White House officials and security teams remain on alert for further demonstrations, while public figures on all sides try to navigate the growing divide.

The delayed garden tours are expected to resume with heightened security measures in place.
