Must-read: Man’s about spiral

A Hidden Fire Hazard: Man Warns About Spiral Light Bulbs. One of the last things Jason Whitaker expected was that a light bulb could nearly burn down his house. In 2019, after noticing a strange smell, he traced it back to a spiral CFL bulb that had been left in a lamp for several years. Upon inspection, he discovered the bulb was packed with ladybugs, which had been drawn to the warmth and light.

The buildup nearly caused a fire. Jason shared his story—and shocking photos—on Facebook, warning others:

“These light bulbs will burn your house down.” His post quickly went viral, with others sharing similar experiences.

While there’s no need to panic, it’s a good reminder: check older bulbs, especially spiral ones, and replace them if needed. A quick inspection could prevent a disaster.
